What we do

Most of our grapes come from the cool-climate vineyards of the Upper Yarra for their minerality and vibrancy, and we compliment the blend with smaller parcels from the slightly warmer vineyards on the valley floor for their plush, fruity character. For us, it's all about balance and purity of fruit.

In the winery we take more of a hands-off approach, as we prefer the fruit to take centre-stage rather than the winemaker’s touch.

Our winery is located in Healesville in the heart of the picturesque Yarra Valley. It is perfect for small-batch, quality winemaking, complete with a selection of small open top fermentation vessels and a barrel hall for wine maturation. The winery is is set among 42 acres of gently sloping, predominantly north-west facing vines, some of which are original plantings from the early 1980s.

OUR WINEMAKER

Anthony Fikkers' journey down the wine rabbit hole began rather unexpectedly when he discovered that unlike a cold can of beer, a bottle of wine remained untouched by sticky fingers in the communal eski at BBQs; a light bulb went off and eventually a new career ensued!

Anthony grew up in Wollongong, NSW, so when he completed his studies at Charles Sturt University, he naturally gravitated toward the Hunter Valley to begin his career in winemaking and worked his first proper vintage in 2002 with Mount Pleasant.

Fast-forward a few years, and an opportunity arose for him to work vintage in the Yarra Valley and pursue his passion for cool-climate wine. Since then, Anthony has worked for a string of great producers including Giant Steps, Mac Forbes and Medhurst, as well as working the odd vintage in Burgundy, Piedmont and Baden.

OUR WINE LABELS

Our labels were designed by graphic designer, Kim Senekal. Her illustration style - which is linocut inspired - has an organic and rustic character. The unrefined strokes create a sense of movement that makes the artwork come to life and captures the fleeting moment of a dream. It was inspired by the scenery surrounding the vineyards of the Upper Yarra, and Kim wanted to capture the essence of the wine and nature's role in the process of winemaking.

As you look a little closer and start engaging with the artwork you'll discover all these little hidden creatures in the landscape. Everyone might see something different – the artist wanted to give the viewer the creative freedom to form their own interpretation.
